CARBON FOOTPRINT

The carbon footprint is the measurement for the impact that the human activities have on the earth. It’s mostly the measurement of the carbon dioxide.

We could measure our carbon footprint from two sites, and we took the average from the both site, the first website (Heroes of the UAE), I need 0.5 planets according to four categories food, travel, home and stuff were classified. That means 10.0 tonnes of CO2 per year. In the second website (footprint.wwf), I needed to 6.71 the questions were first about your home and your family, then about what do you do to save energy, and about your food. The average I got was 5.6, so if everyone in the world uses as much as me, so they need five planets and a half.

Some of my classmate got lower than me and some got more than me, the ones who got less than me is Yasser. His footprint is 3.07 planet and the ones who got more than I got is Sami. His footprint is 6.1 and 9.17. The UAE is considered one of the highest rates of energy consumption per person in the world, if it not the highest.

So we have to do something to save the energy and to reduce our carbon footprint especially in the UAE. We can adjust the AC and turn it back up few degrees and turn it off when you leave home, you will save money and you will make your footprint less. You can use energy saving light bulbs, because they are more efficient and they last 10 times longer. So you will reduce your footprint and your money also!! So when ever you go out remember to turn everything off and try to make your carbon foot smaller and smaller.

An Inconvenient Truth Argument

An inconvenient truth movie which presented by Albert Gore shows the problem of global warming that has serious effect in our planet. This argument will discuss both the negative and positive ways on this movie and at last I will show my opinion.
Let me deal first with a negative way of the movie. Dustin Putman showed that Al Gore's argument isn't satisfactorily backed up. Instead of proving his point with unmistakable facts, he basically resorts to telling rather than showing what people should believe. He also gets lost in presenting of computer animations and graphs that offer up a lot of numbers about temperature and emissions levels. The film isn't creatively or visually the material is poorly image and edited. The case that Al Gore makes to random audiences, one-part advice and one-part filled with badly. (Putman)

Now let us look at a positive way of the movie."An inconvenient truth" showed clear and important message. James Kendrick showed that AlGore is not against the types of economic arguments that are often used against measures that would slow global warming, showing how U.S. automakers’ refusal to raise their emission standards. Another thing is the fact that he has been doing this presentation for a long time is clearly show Good planetary manage and good business. Also Al Gore said, global warming is a reality and we are in serious trouble if we don’t do something about. (Kendrick)

In conclusion, the movie provides a lot of information and a basis for further research and study into global warming. I think Al Gore does a great job by presenting interest, clear and simple charts and data. In addition on this, an inconvenient truth movie is important and useful, because it's talking about a very important issue that we are facing it.

An InconvenientTruth

The sun’s radiation comes in a form of light waves which passes through the atmosphere, and then some of the radiation which is absorbed and warms the earth is radiated back to space in a form of infrared waves. Some of this out going infrared radiation is trapped by the earth’s atmosphere and warms it, keeps it relatively constant, livable and that keeps the temperature of the earth in a certain balance. The problem is the atmosphere layer has become thicker by the global warming pollution. That means that more of the out going infrared rays is trapped and so the atmosphere heats up and that’s global warming. The most dangerous affect of global warming is the extinction of many species like polar bears and other animals. Also, it affects the near future like water will come less and many lands will sink.

Introduction to Global Warming

Global Warming is one of the most important issues of the twenty-first century. Global warming refers to the increase of the Earth's average surface temperature, due to the burning of fossil fuels like oil and coal cause greenhouse gases to escape into the air and these gases are causing most of the warming. Another cause is cutting down trees. Trees soak up carbon dioxide, one of the greenhouse gases, from the air. There are already some changes happening because of global warming. Sea level is rising and some animals are already moving to new homes. There may be some kinds of plants and animals that disappear completely because they can’t move to new homes. There may be more storms and floods. It’s already too late to stop global warming completely.
